| Overview: | The Jack Russell Terrier is a small and brave little dog, bred to hunt small mammals. He's a friendly and athletic pet, showing great independence yet welcoming of attention. |

| Coat: | Smooth and broken: Whether smooth or broken, a double coat of good sheen, naturally harsh, close and dense, straight with no suggestion of kink. There a clear outline with only a hint of eyebrows and beard, no sculptured furnishings. |
| Character: | Jack Russell Terriers are brave, yet boisterous dogs. They are watchful and confident, so serve as protectors toward their owners. |
| Temperament: | This breed gets along well with children, other dogs, and most household pets. However, they may tend to try to 'hunt' the family cat, so careful training is required. This breed may also try to dominate other dogs (even large ones!). |
| Care: | Coat care for the smooth type consists only of weekly brushing to remove dead hair; for the broken coat it also consists of occasional hand stripping. |
