Overview:	The Saluki is a very well behaved dog indoors, but needs a lot of serious exercise outdoors. This is a very fast breed with an independent nature, very devoted to his owner and willing to learn with patient training.

Weight (lbs):	35-65
Height (in):	males: 23-28, females: 17-23
Colors:	White, cream, fawn, golden, red, grizzle, black and tan, tricolor, or any of these on a white background.
Coat:	Hair is smooth and silky. The hair on the back of the legs, ears, and tail should be longer and feathery. The smooth variety has no long feathering.
Character:	Salukis are very independent and seem to have a mind of their own. They've peaceful, however, always enjoying the company of their owner. These dogs are cautious around strangers and have a very strong hunting instinct.
Temperament:	This breed gets along well with dogs that have a similar nature. They have a strong hunting instinct, however, so may not be suitable for living with other animals (especially cats).
Care:	The smooth coat needs only occasional brushing to remove dead hair, but the longer feathering needs combing once or twice a week.
Training:	This breed is very stubborn, never really becoming obedient. An owner needs patience and a consistent approach to training.
Activity:	Salukis need a lot of exercise, but should be allowed to run free only when in a fenced area or when well trained to respond to the owner. Go bicycle riding with the Saluki trotting alongside.
Health Issue:	No major or minor concerns; Cardiomyopathy is occasionally seen. Sensitive to anesthesia.
Life Expectancy:	12-14
