Overview:	The Schipperke is a small breed that is very quick ' both in terms of thinking and moving. He's a great family pet and gets along very well with other dogs.

Coat:	The coat is abundant, straight and slightly harsh to the touch. It is medium length on the body, and longer in the ruff, cape, jabot and culottes. The softer undercoat is dense and short on the body and is very dense around the neck, making the ruff
Character:	Schipperkes are alert, loyal, and inquisitive. They have amazing energy and are always eager to please their owners.
Temperament:	This breed is a good with children, as long as they have been properly socialized and supervised. They can become very attached to the family's children and be a loyal and watchful companion.
Care:	The Schipperke requires regularly grooming with a comb or brush that has firm bristles. Use dry shampoo when necessary.
Training:	This breed is very intelligent, so should begin training at an early age. He can be somewhat stubborn, so an early lesson will be to train him when he's called.
Activity:	The Schipperke enjoys plenty of exercise and should have a fenced back yard.
Country of Origin:	Belgium
Health Issue:	This breed may be prone to hypothyroid, epilepsy, and heart disease. The hip sockets tend to slip in some. Progressive retinal atrophy, cataracts, and some genetic problems may also occur.
Life Expectancy:	13-15
