ETIENNE - CHIHUAHUA / MIXED (SHORT COAT) DOG FOR ADOPTION

Posted Breed: Chihuahua / Mixed (short coat). Atienne is a 12 year old Chihuahua mix. He weighs about 15 lbs. Atienne is blind and has a severe hearing loss. We are not sure what or if he hears. Atienne was a stray and was pulled from the shelter. They felt he was scared at the shelter. We can understand with no vision and hearing what it must be like to be at the shelter. Atienne is doing well in his foster home. The other dogs do not bother him and he does not seem to be bothered by the other dogs. He will need a quiet home that can accommodate his vision loss. He does bump into things. He will need to be trained on where the water is and his boundries are. He will need patience while he is adjusting. Since he has hearing loss he will not hear you ask him to do things. A consistent routine would be helpful. Atienne is working on his housebreaking but for now he is wearing a belly bad. He has a cough which we are treating. We do not know what causes the cough so we are trying lassies for now to see if we see improvements. He has been on prednisone which has helped a bit but the cough persists. He is a super sweet boy. Atienne will need a fenced in yard. He will not be a dog park candidate with his special needs. He does just okay on a leash but do not think he would tolerate long walks.
