Overview:	The Neapolitan Mastiff was first bred by the Romans for use in war and fighting in the arena. They are best for dominant owners with experience training strong dogs.
Breed Group:	Working
Weight (lbs):	150-200
Height (in):	24-30
Colors:	Blue, black, mahogany and tawny. Some brindling allowable.
Coat:	The coat is short, smooth and thick
Character:	The Neapolitan Mastiff is intelligent, but can be strong willed. They are generally calm, if not provoked.
Temperament:	The female Neapolitan Mastiffs are better with children. Males are more dominant, but will get along with other pets, if they are raised together from puppies. Two males generally aren't a good choice, as they will fight for dominance.
Care:	The coat only needs the occasional brushing and infrequent bath.
Training:	Neapolitan Mastiffs need obedience training with a trainer experienced with dominant dogs.
Activity:	This breed needs to be walked twice each day. Avoid rough play when the puppy is young to ensure a calmer adult.
Country of Origin:	Italy
Health Issue:	hip dysplasia, eye condition known as cherry eye
Life Expectancy:	8-10
