Date into Rescue: 05/02/2017 Reason for being in rescue: Link Basil was surrendered to CPR by his owners. Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Link needs a home where there are no other dogs. He would do best with a quiet life where he stays within a fenced yard for exercise and has no canine visitors. Weight: 23 lbs Height: Estimated 14.5 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? Yes What kind of home would be best for me? Link needs a quiet home that is willing to understand him. On the plus side, because his mother was a poodle. Link is a low shedder. He is not a highly active dog and would be fine for someone who is a homebody and likes to putter around the house. He has not shown us that he needs to run and leap and jump a lot. Link was previously adopted from CPR and returned for biting. Link is not good with other dogs and is barrier aggressive when another dog walks past him. He needs to be in a home where he is the only animal. What is my personality like? Link arrived at the farm along with siblings due to no fault of his own. Link was previously adopted but returned due to biting. Since being back at the farm he can no longer go out with dogs because he does not get along with them. He needs an experienced home willing to learn his triggers and work through them. Basil is a sweet and caring dog. It does take him time to warm up but not very long, and once he does he will love you! He does have some quirks though. Link Basil does not like other dogs at all. He is very barrier aggressive when they are walking by his crate. He needs to be in a home where it’s only him. He does have a fear of being alone, he doesn’t like to be outside by his self at all. But if you are outside with him he is jumping and happy and very playful. Link has no experience with children and we believe with their higher energy, he would not do well. Link needs routine. A potty as soon as he wakes up and right after breakfast are a must if you don't want an accident. He does love human contact and will let you sit and pet him for hours if you would. Link has a nervous personality and barks at new noises and people. How do I act when I first meet new people? Timid. Link will bark at strangers. Once he warms up he is a very caring dog. Other tips and tidbits: Link needs a very experienced owner in a home where he will be the only dog. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs.
