Visit any of our Petco and PetSmart adoption centers this weekend or better yet - apply now at .furkids Dog Adoptions Cat Adoptions Abi is 7 months old (est. birth date is 12/01/2021) and she has lived most of her life at Furkids... she is such a sweet, snuggly girl that is just waiting to find her family. She loves to romp around the yard with her siblings and play with toys. She is learning to walk on a leash and loves getting out to explore! Abi will flourish with a family that is committed to her socialization and training. She would love a canine sibling to show her the ropes! Abi's adoption fee is $305. If you want to know more Abi, please complete a survey at .shelterluv/matchme/adopt/FKDS/Dog. At this time, meeting our dogs is by appointment only. After submitting a survey, an adoption counselor will contact you to give you more information about the dog you are interested in adopting and to arrange for you to meet the dog. Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
