Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. Our job is to find those someone's. Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog. They come to us because they want to give a dog a home. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families. Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today. We'll update as more information is known. Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days? We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team Date into Rescue: 5/11/2021 Reason for being in rescue: Teddy was surrendered by his owners to a shelter. Carolina Poodle Rescue pulled him from the shelter. Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Teddy is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and heartworm negative. Teddy does shed. Weight: 91 lbs Height: 24 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $499 Fence needed? Yes What kind of home would be best for me? Teddy is a young, strong, active dog. He was surrendered to a shelter because of his high prey drive. He is great with other large dogs, but absolutely cannot live with small dogs or cat. Teddy has had limited training and hence has few manners. Given his strength, he needs a family that is committed to training with him. He does not know his strength and is not great on a leash, which means he can pull and will pull. He is also incredibly smart and needs a family that is dog savvy and will not fall for his antics. Teddy would be a fantastic hiking and running partner. We do not recommend him for a home with small children. Teddy wants to be with people. All the time. His home needs someone that is home during the day - either work from home, very active retirees, or other. When you are away he must be crated. He wants to be with you and will try to cross any barrier to find you and be with you. What is my personality like? True to his name, Teddy is a big teddy bear with a personality as large as his body. He is happy, curious and incredibly active. He is very observant and clearly very smart - a great candidate for agility training. Teddy is incredibly food motivated and will do almost anything that you ask of him for a treat. This giant love bug loves to give hugs, not realizing his size. Teddy wants people. He bonds strongly with one person and wants to be with that person at all times. At our rescue, he has broken multiple gate latches to get to his primary caregiver when he could see her but was not with her. Teddy enjoys his crate and will go in upon command. He would enjoy having his own crated space in his new home and will need it for times when you are away. Teddy can not be trusted in a house unsupervised without being in a crate. He also cannot be trusted in a fenced yard if you are not physically outside with him. Teddy needs training. He is a large dog that is pure muscle. He is difficult to control on a leash, particularly when he is excited. When you welcome Teddy into your home, we don't recommend that you stop anywhere along the way. Until he bonds with you he will be a flight risk, and with his sheer strength and unfamiliar places and people, he can be a flight risk. Teddy's size shouldn't scare you. Though large, he is a total teddy bear and incredibly loving. To the family that invests in training with Teddy, you will have a wonderful, loyal, dedicated companion! How do I act when I first meet new people? Friendly Other tips and tidbits: Teddy's estimated birthday is 4/23/2018 House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina. To apply, please visit our webpage at .carolinapoodlerescue and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc. Others here may be a better fit for you. It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description. Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a dog not in our listings yet. We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR.
